This band was formed in Rochester, NY in 2003 and it is composed of three cellists and a percussionist. They released their first album in 2004, which featured a mix of electric and acoustic songs. Their album “Spectrum of the Sky” was released in 2009 and it is my favorite.
If you are a fan of GOT, you probably heard the most prominent tune from this string quartet many times. However, despite being featured in a very popular show, their amazing talent remains mostly hidden to those reluctant to perform a deep dive in search of relatively unknown artists. Their music is a blend of electronic rock and classical music. Their songs are characterized by a slow beginnings that build into a crescendo that ends in an explosion of hypnotic melodies. They are very original and truly extraordinary. They play instrumental music that evokes imagery of landscapes across different seasons featuring beautiful sunrises and sunsets and melodies written by clouds of rain. I wanted to feature their lesser known work as I think they are very worthy of exploration.
Here are my top picks. Enjoy!
